Windows makes a good OS, as long as you don't put games on it. Or programs. Just notepad...

I have a VPN connection to work, so whenever something goes wrong, I login and check out the server.
If that server isn't responding, and it's one of our IBM Blade systems, then I can restart it from the management console (awesome feature), otherwise if it's a standalone box, I would have to go there and reboot it manually (never happened).

There is one more possibility, is that the server is a virtual machine, in which case, I can also restart the guest virtual machine from the management console.

You can buy an IP KVM switch and give the kvm a public IP or an internal IP if you have VPN.

The Linux kernel offers a Watchdog service, which will monitor a process or more for you, and if it's dead/down, it will run it again. If you Googlize, I'm sure you'll find a similar thing for Windows.

Oh, and ayyamech sa3eeda

Usually people curse rather than file a complaint :p

Take a look into the watchdog thingy. I'm sure it will come in handy, especially if your service tends to die unexpectedly often.
