Question on Working Hours?

If you work 8 hours a day and you are able to finish your tasks in lets say half the time (by pressuring yourself, working harder, smarter and being super efficient). Is it ethical to use the time left for yourself?

If it's not ethical => Naturally you will finish the tasks in the 8 hours that you have ... you won't pressure yourself.

And even If it's ethical => You will end up with more tasks from your boss anyways.

What do you think?

let's say you have 4 extra hours... do extra work in 2 of them and have 2 for yourself..

but I don't think it's unethical, even if I was the boss and one of my employees did this :/

im thinking the same too ... bs not sure if its ethical or not? contract doesn't really specify work load per day it only specifies the working hours ...

thanks for your input ...

hell ya it's ethical. Because it's not about how many hours, its about tasks done. The contract says when you have to be at work. And your yearly plans dictates the tasks to be achieved.
Don't you work over 8 hours just to get the job done? It is the same thing.
In moderation of course, laa temas'7eenha :P

crazyyetwise.com some of what you are doing in not network friendly :P too much bandwidth :P

i think its ethical...you've done your share

you should get as much work allocated to you as to all your other colleagues. if you finish it early, then its your time

extra work (more than all your colleagues) should mean extra pay, even if you have extra time

I believe work should be about completing you commitments and not work hours.

If your boss doesn't think the same way you do, then you might want to have a talk and have the department explore that option. You never know, others might join you and before you know it everyone else will be doing more in less.

It's a great book you're reading btw, I am glad you're enjoying it!

It depends on how your manager sets things: If he's hour oriented, you're better off stretching your tasks to fit the time-frame.
If your manager is task oriented, finish whenever you do & when you have extra time, use it for yourself.

Nothing unethical about it. You have dedicated your time and mind for work and you'd get back to that phase whenever needed but in spare time you can finish your own work and there's no one who can judge for that.
