Info Connect 2009 (2)

So I finally went to Info Connect and its way below my expectations except for the "DSL offers" that are really good, you will find them for an avg of (2 Mbps ~ 200 KD). I have a friend who subscribed only 2 months ago for (512 Mbps => 1 Mbps (with double speed)) paying 19 KD a month thru NBK. After the upgrade (1 Mbps => 2 Mbps (with double speed) he is going to pay 18.750 a month! ... so you can upgrade for a lower price.

My other friend who was looking for a mini laptop didn't find anything interesting really, not many options:
Dell Mini (Intel Atom 1.6 GHZ, 1 GB RAM, 16 GB SSD HDD, XP) = 130 KD.

Toshiba Mini (Intel Atom 1.6 GHZ, 1 GB RAM, 120 GB HDD, XP) = 129 KD, without OS = 99 KD

HP Mini (Mobile via 1.6 GHZ, 2 GB RAM, 12o GB HDD, Vista Buisness) = 185 KD

MSI Mini (?, 1 GB RAM, ? GB HDD, XP, Multi Colors (White, Pink)) = 109 KD

I saw there: Toshiba, Fujitsu Siemens, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, QualityNet, KEMS, Wataniya, Viva, Fastelco, Anwarko, Alghanim-Xcite, InfoCenter, different ministries?, Gulfnet...

i told you its nor that good, so im guessing im only going there to see what quality net has to offer, i currently have a 1mb internet connection, and i wanna increase it to 2mb, hopefully it works well for me

it will :)

just let them calculate the difference that you need to pay ...
because the price you are paid for the 1 mb is now for the 2mb connection

On-The-Rocks, Make sure you tell them to test your phone line from their end to see if it can handle 2Mbps or not, BEFORE you pay for an upgrade.

If the phone lines are old, or far from the PBX, then you won't get the speed you expect due to loss.

Expos are supposed to bring latest technologies and best offers. Here however, it's just discounts and trying to get rid of left overs :/

Hard luck on the sudden Qnet renewal.. This is why parents shouldn't get involved in geeks business

MBH: yeah they actually do the test before they tell you to upgrade

Bashar: true ;(
my renewal was fine i got the 2 Mbps for 225 KD :)

ĐǻñĎõøðñ: just ask them to calculate the difference if you want to upgrade .. it should be minimal and you can upgrade to the higher one :)

Aurous: if you're not planning to renew your dsl account dont go

By the way, did you have any problems with the new 2 mb upgrade? And where is your location (IF That's OK!)

Since many people were facing problems with 2 Mbps and had to downgrade as their lines would not handle the fast connection. I'm hesitating. Although I'm in new area, Egaila.

Surra, so far its fine
couldn't handle in what sense? hmm :s madri

i get a max download speed of 250

Thanks. That's surra not south surra just to be sure right?

Some areas, especially old ones have their phone lines for ages and they cant handle the extra data bandwidth usage. They were not designed for this initially. So once you go to 1 or 2 Mbps, service deteriorates rapidly!

Good you're not having it.

yes it is,

i guess Qnet should advise ppl whether they can or can't upgrade :s

This is quite related.
