Edgar Frank "Ted" Codd (E. F. Codd): The founder/father of the relational database. He published his research on the relational model in 1970. 7 years later Oracle introduced the first commercial implementation of his work. Version 2 of The Relational Model for Database Management was published in 1990.

I dont think it was the original book, it was definatly a later version, bas el 3inwan taqriban the same and his initals looks so familier, unfortunatly i dont have my books to refer to..
yes we all have studied the relational model back at college :)
